nutivõrgud

Nutivõrgud are networks of intelligent devices and systems that can sense, communicate, and act with minimal human intervention. The term is used in Estonian to describe smart, automated networks, particularly in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart infrastructure. It is not a strictly defined technical category; in formal writings the term neural networks is rendered as närvivõrgud, while nutivõrgud often appears in industry or marketing discussions about devices and systems that automate data collection and control.

Applications and domains include smart homes (lighting, climate control, security), smart buildings and facilities management, energy systems with smart grids, industrial IoT for predictive maintenance and automation, and connected transportation systems. These networks typically consist of sensors, actuators, gateways, and communication networks, with data processing occurring locally, at the edge, or in the cloud. They use wireless standards such as Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, NB‑IoT, and 5G, and rely on platform software for device management, data analytics, and automation rules.

Benefits include increased efficiency, resource optimization, and new services, while challenges cover security and privacy risks, interoperability between devices, and data governance.
