Mozgástervedetek, meaning "motion planning" in Hungarian, refers to the computational problem of finding a sequence of movements for a robot or other agent to move from a starting configuration to a goal configuration while avoiding obstacles and respecting constraints. This is a fundamental challenge in robotics and artificial intelligence, with applications ranging from autonomous vehicles and industrial robots to video game characters and surgical robots.

The core of a motion planning problem involves defining the state space, which represents all possible configurations of the agent. This state space can be simple, like a 2D or 3D position, or complex, encompassing joint angles for robotic arms or the orientation of a vehicle. Obstacles in the environment are also represented within this state space, defining regions that the agent must not occupy.

Various algorithms exist to solve motion planning problems. Sampling-based methods, such as Probabilistic Roadmaps (PRMs) and Rapidly-exploring Random Trees (RRTs), are popular for high-dimensional state spaces. These algorithms explore the state space by randomly sampling configurations and connecting them to build a graph or tree that represents navigable paths. Other approaches include grid-based methods that discretize the state space into a grid and search for a path, and optimization-based methods that formulate motion planning as an optimization problem.

The complexity of motion planning often depends on the dimensionality of the state space, the density and complexity of obstacles, and the presence of kinematic or dynamic constraints. Efficient and robust motion planning is crucial for enabling intelligent and autonomous systems to navigate and interact with their environments effectively.
