ljudmixer, in English "audio mixer" or "sound mixer," is an electronic device used to combine and shape several audio signals into one or more outputs. Each input channel typically provides a level control (fader or knob), routing to auxiliary sends for monitors or effects, a gain/preamplifier stage, and often equalization and dynamics processing. Mixers may be analog or digital. Analog mixers pass signals through discrete hardware paths, while digital mixers perform processing with onboard DSP and can recall settings or scenes.

Most mixers include a master section with main outputs, meters, and sometimes built-in effects or signal routing options. They can have fixed or configurable channel counts, ranging from small 4–8 channel models for compact setups to large-format desks with dozens of inputs used in concerts or studios. Additional features may include phantom power for condenser mics, USB or Dante networking for computer or network integration, balanced XLR or TRS outputs, and talkback or monitoring controls.

Applications commonly include live sound reinforcement, recording studios, broadcast, theater, and podcasting. In studio environments, a mixer is often used in conjunction with a multitrack recorder or an audio interface, or integrated with a digital audio workstation (DAW). Digital mixers in particular provide onboard effects, dynamic processing, recallable scenes, and deeper routing options, while still serving as the primary control surface for mixing tasks. When choosing a mixer, factors include channel count, routing flexibility, preamp quality, onboard processing, build quality, and budget.
