Linoprintillä is a Finnish term referring to linocut printing. Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut, but using linoleum instead of wood for the relief surface. The artist carves into a sheet of linoleum, removing the areas that should not print, leaving the image to be printed raised. Once the carving is complete, ink is applied to the raised surface with a roller. Paper is then placed on the inked linoleum block, and pressure is applied, either by hand or using a press, to transfer the ink to the paper, creating a print.

This technique allows for bold lines and shapes due to the relatively soft nature of linoleum, which is easier to carve than wood. Artists can achieve a wide range of effects, from sharp, graphic images to softer, more painterly textures, depending on the tools and methods used for carving and inking.
