Külgdislokatsioonide, also known as lateral dislocations, refer to a type of fracture in which a bone breaks and is displaced sideways. This displacement is often significant, meaning the broken ends of the bone are no longer aligned. These injuries typically occur due to significant force, such as from a fall or impact.

The diagnosis of a külgdislokatsioon is usually made through radiographic imaging, such as X-rays, which clearly show the fractured and displaced bone segments. Clinical examination will reveal pain, swelling, deformity, and a reduced range of motion in the affected limb. The degree of displacement can vary, influencing the severity of symptoms and the treatment approach.

Treatment for külgdislokatsioonide depends on the extent of displacement and the specific bone involved. Non-displaced or minimally displaced fractures may be managed conservatively with immobilization using casts or splints to allow the bone to heal in its natural position. However, significantly displaced fractures often require surgical intervention. Surgical options include closed reduction with percutaneous pinning, where the bone fragments are manipulated back into alignment and held with pins, or open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF), which involves surgically exposing the fracture site, realigning the bone, and securing it with plates, screws, or rods.

The prognosis after a külgdislokatsioon varies. With appropriate treatment and rehabilitation, most individuals can regain full function. However, complications such as malunion (healing in an incorrect position), nonunion (failure to heal), nerve damage, or stiffness can occur.
