Kontrollivaid is Estonian for devices or components that perform control actions within a system. In automation and process control, kontrollivaid describe elements that influence a process to achieve a desired state by sensing, deciding, and acting.

In a typical closed-loop control system, kontrollivaid include sensors that measure a process variable, controllers or regulators that compute a corrective signal from the error between the measured value and the setpoint, and actuators that convert that signal into a physical action, such as opening a valve or adjusting a motor.
