Ideológií, or ideology in English, refers to a systematic set of ideas, beliefs, and values that shape how individuals or groups perceive the world, interpret social phenomena, and propose solutions to societal problems. Ideologies often serve as frameworks for understanding political, economic, and cultural systems, influencing policies, institutions, and collective behavior. They can emerge from philosophical, religious, or historical traditions and are frequently used to justify power structures, social hierarchies, or political movements.

Ideologies typically include core principles that guide decision-making, such as views on governance, property rights, social equality, or the role of the state. Examples include liberalism, which emphasizes individual freedom and limited government intervention; socialism, which advocates for collective ownership and economic equality; and conservatism, which prioritizes tradition, gradual change, and social stability. Other ideologies, such as fascism or anarchism, present more radical or opposing visions of society.

The term was coined in the early 19th century by French philosopher Destutt de Tracy, who defined it as the "science of ideas." Over time, ideology has been analyzed by scholars across disciplines, including political science, sociology, and philosophy. Critics argue that ideologies can distort reality by promoting self-serving narratives or justifying oppression, while supporters contend that they provide necessary frameworks for organizing complex social systems.

Ideologies often intersect with power dynamics, as they may be used to legitimize or challenge existing systems. For instance, revolutionary ideologies have historically driven social upheavals, while dominant ideologies have reinforced established power structures. The study of ideology examines how beliefs shape and are shaped by societal contexts, making it a key concept in understanding political and cultural conflicts.
