Furnierparkett, often translated as veneer parquet or engineered wood flooring, is a type of flooring composed of multiple layers. The top layer is a thin veneer of real hardwood, typically from premium wood species like oak, walnut, or maple. Beneath this decorative layer are several substrate layers, usually made of plywood, HDF (high-density fiberboard), or softwood. These layers are bonded together under high pressure.

The construction of furnierparkett offers several advantages. The real wood veneer provides the aesthetic appeal and natural feel of solid wood flooring at a potentially lower cost. The multi-layered construction contributes to the stability of the flooring, making it less prone to expansion and contraction due to changes in humidity and temperature compared to solid wood planks. This increased stability makes it a suitable option for installation over underfloor heating systems.

Furnierparkett is commonly available in pre-finished planks, which are ready to be installed and do not require sanding or sealing on-site. Installation methods vary, including click systems for floating floors or glue-down applications for a more permanent bond. The durability of furnierparkett depends on the thickness of the wear layer (the hardwood veneer) and the quality of its construction. While the veneer layer can be refinished, the number of times this is possible is limited by its thickness.
