Forseti is a deity in Norse mythology associated with justice, law, and reconciliation. He is described as the son of Baldr and Nanna and is regarded as the most powerful judge among the Æsir. His hall, Glitnir, was noted for its polished silver roof and served as a place where disputes were settled and oaths sworn. Forseti is portrayed as a peaceful and wise mediator who speaks carefully and administers fair judgments. The meaning of the name is often explained as “the presiding one” or “the president.” Worship of Forseti is attested chiefly in medieval Icelandic and Norse sources; details of cult practices are scarce, reflecting a relatively limited cult compared with other major gods.

Beyond myth, Forseti also refers to a modern software project, Forseti Security, an open‑source governance toolkit for Google Cloud Platform. Initiated by Google, it provides tools to inventory cloud resources, scan configurations for misconfigurations, and report findings in order to improve security and compliance.
