forof

Forof is a term used in several contexts to refer to different concepts. In modern computing, it is commonly associated with the for...of loop in JavaScript, which iterates over the values of iterable objects. In Turkish-language media, forof (often plural foroflar) is a slang noun describing an intensely devoted sports fan. The two usages are otherwise unrelated.

In JavaScript, the for...of loop was introduced in ES6 and provides a concise way to traverse iterables such as arrays, strings, maps, and sets. The loop assigns successive values to the loop variable: for (const x of iterable) { ... }. It differs from for...in, which enumerates property keys, and from traditional index-based loops. The iterable is obtained via the [Symbol.iterator] method.

In Turkish usage, forof is a colloquial term for a sports fanatic. It can carry a pejorative or critical tone, depending on context. The plural form foroflar is used when referring to large groups of such fans. The term appears in sports journalism and popular discourse to describe highly partisan or rowdy supporters; its connotations are generally negative relative to ordinary fans.

Origins of the Turkish usage are linked to the word fan; etymology is informal and debated. In programming contexts, “forof” is not a separate language construct but a shorthand reference to the for...of loop; the standard syntax is for (const item of iterable).
