floorN12 is a modular flooring standard and product family used in modern architecture and interior design. It defines a 12-inch nominal square tile module, labeled N12, and a related digital data schema intended to streamline specification, ordering, and installation. The term is used to describe both the physical flooring components and the CAD/BIM data that accompany them.

Tiles are available in ceramic, porcelain, vinyl, and laminate, with thicknesses of 8 to 12 millimeters. Edge profiles include square, micro-bevel, and micro-rounded options. The system follows a consistent 12-inch grid to support uniform patterns and predictable grout lines.

The N12 designation signals a 12-inch nominal module. An orientation indicator aligns tile placement to cardinal directions in floor plans. The digital data uses a simple code, floorN12-TY-GD-BB, to encode tile type, finish, grade, and batch for BIM workflows.

Installation and maintenance: Subfloor must be flat and clean; adhesives or mechanical fasteners vary by material. Underlayment addresses sound and moisture. Cleaning and sealing follow manufacturer instructions.

Applications and advantages: Used in offices, retail, and hospitality settings where modularity and speed matter. Encourages easy replacement and supports integrated quantity takeoffs in BIM.

Limitations: Fixed grid can be less adaptable in irregular spaces. Substrate prep is critical, and initial costs may be higher than non-modular systems.
