Fingerteknik, or finger technique, is a term used in Swedish and Nordic pedagogy to describe the coordinated use of fingers to perform tasks requiring dexterity and precision. It covers how fingers move, press, and interact with the hands and arms to produce controlled, efficient motion. The concept is applied across fields such as music, typing, crafts, and sports to optimize performance and reduce strain.

In music education, fingerteknik focuses on hand position, finger independence, and touch. Students learn to assign each finger specific tasks, develop even tempo and dynamics across scales and arpeggios, and control articulation (legato, staccato) through careful, measured practice, often aided by a metronome and slow practice to build motor memory.

In typing, fingerteknik means touch typing: keeping the hands on the home row, using designated fingers for each key, and minimizing unnecessary movement. Proper alignment of wrists, relaxed posture, and a steady rhythm contribute to speed and accuracy.

Beyond music and typing, fingerteknik applies to crafts, surgery, and sports where precise finger control is essential. Training emphasizes proprioception, feedback, and fatigue management to prevent overuse injuries and maintain accuracy during repetitive tasks.
