A dokkolóállomás, or docking station, is a peripheral device that allows a laptop or other portable computer to connect to additional computer peripherals such as a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and external storage devices. It essentially transforms a portable computer into a more functional desktop-like workstation. Docking stations often contain ports for USB devices, display outputs like HDMI or DisplayPort, Ethernet, and audio jacks.

There are generally two main types of docking stations: proprietary and universal. Proprietary docking stations are designed specifically for a particular brand or model of laptop and usually connect via a dedicated port on the underside of the laptop. Universal docking stations, on the other hand, can be used with a wider range of laptops from different manufacturers. These typically connect via a standard interface such as USB-C or Thunderbolt, offering greater flexibility.
