Counterdisplay refers to a visual representation of a numeric counter value, used to convey counts of events, quantities, or elapsed time in both hardware devices and software interfaces. It serves as a human-readable indicator of a running total or progress.

In hardware, counter displays were historically implemented with mechanical counters or electronic digit displays such as seven-segment LED or LCD modules. Modern implementations often use multiplexed digit drivers, with digits driven by BCD or binary counters. Display technologies include LED, LCD, and vacuum fluorescent displays, each with its own power, contrast, and visibility characteristics. Counter displays may be configured as radix-10 counters or binary counters, and they frequently employ common-anode or common-cathode digit wiring to reduce wiring complexity.
