Bureaukratiske is an adjective used in Norwegian to describe something related to bureaucracy or bureaucrats. It is commonly applied to processes, organizations, or behaviors that are shaped by formal rules, procedures, and hierarchical structures rather than by informal practices or flexible decision making.

The concept rests on the idea of a rational-legal type of administration, most famously analyzed by the sociologist Max Weber. The emphasis on rules can obscure outcomes, hinder innovation, and frustrate citizens or stakeholders who seek swift or flexible responses. In political and organizational discourse, the term is often used pejoratively to describe overly rule-bound or technocratic governance, while supporters highlight the stability, predictability, and accountability that bureaucratiske systems can provide.

In practice, many public and private organizations strive to balance the benefits of formal structure with reforms aimed at reducing unnecessary procedures and leveraging digitalization to streamline decisions.
