Audiovualinen (often written audiovisuaalinen in Finnish) is an umbrella term for content, devices and systems that combine sound and imagery. The concept is central to media production, education, entertainment and communications, where audio and visual components are integrated to communicate information or create experiences.

In Finnish usage the standard adjective is audiovisuaalinen, borrowed from English "audiovisual." The term covers hardware, software and content that coordinate audio—such as speech, music or sound effects—with visual elements like video, graphics or projections. The abbreviation AV is commonly used.

Typical components include audio equipment such as microphones, amplifiers and loudspeakers; video equipment such as screens, projectors and displays; and the supporting infrastructure like cables, switches and controllers. Digital interfaces such as HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C enable signal transmission, while synchronization (lip-sync) is essential for a coherent experience.

Applications span classrooms and lecture halls, film and television production, cinemas and home theaters, corporate meetings, event venues and digital signage. Accessibility features such as captions, audio description and assistive listening enhance usability for diverse audiences.

Technical considerations include compatibility across devices, scalability, latency, resolution, color management and power consumption. AV systems require planning for acoustics, room layout, safety and maintenance, with standards and regulatory requirements varying by country and sector.
