Asselement is a term used in some engineering and manufacturing contexts to refer to a basic unit that can be combined with other units to form an assembly. It is not a universally standardized term and its exact meaning can vary by industry or software, but it generally emphasizes the atomic unit of an assembled product rather than a larger grouping.

In common practice, an asselement corresponds to a discrete part or subcomponent with defined interfaces, tolerances, and materials that can be produced, tested, and replaced within a product structure. In computer-aided design (CAD) and product data management (PDM) workflows, asselements are organized hierarchically: asselements combine into subassemblies, which in turn form the final assembly. Each asselement carries data such as geometry, nominal dimensions, mating constraints, manufacturing process information, and lifecycle status, aiding modular design and variant management.

The concept is closely related to terms like component, part, and subassembly, but it is often used to highlight the smallest unit within an assembly capable of individual specification and interface definition. In some software environments, asselement may be used interchangeably with component or part, while other tools reserve those terms for broader groupings.
