Acuchow is a specialized piece of climbing equipment used primarily in sport climbing and selected indoor climbing situations. The term derives from the Spanish word “acuchillar,” meaning “to stab or to anchor,” and describes a small metal plate or bar that is bolted or screwed into the climbing wall. Once fixed, the acuchow is clipped to a climbing rope or quickdraw via a standard cordelette or harness attachment point, providing a secure anchor for the climber.
