Zsírszövetnekrózis

Zsírszövetnekrózis refers to the death of fat cells. This condition can occur due to various reasons, including trauma, surgery, or reduced blood supply to the fatty tissue. It is a pathological process where the cellular structures of adipocytes break down, leading to inflammation and potentially scarring.

There are several types of zsírszövetnekrózis. Traumatic fat necrosis typically arises after an injury to the breast or other fatty areas. Post-surgical fat necrosis can develop following procedures like liposuction or mastectomy. Enzymatic fat necrosis is another form, often associated with pancreatitis, where digestive enzymes leak and damage surrounding fat.

Symptoms can vary depending on the cause and location. Common signs include a firm, palpable lump or mass, which may be tender or painful. The overlying skin can become red, bruised, or thickened. In some cases, the area may feel hardened.

Diagnosis usually involves a combination of medical history, physical examination, and imaging studies such as ultrasound or mammography. A biopsy might be necessary to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions, like malignancy.

Treatment for zsírszövetnekrózis depends on its severity and underlying cause. Small, asymptomatic areas may not require intervention. Larger or symptomatic lesions might be managed with pain relief, anti-inflammatory medications, or, in some instances, surgical excision. The prognosis is generally good, especially for traumatic and post-surgical forms, with complete healing often occurring over time. However, complications such as infection or cosmetic deformity are possible.
