Woodproducts encompass goods manufactured from wood or wood-based materials. They include solid wood products such as lumber, boards, siding, trim, and structural timbers, as well as engineered wood products designed to improve performance and use of lower-grade wood fibers. Also include wood-based composites like plywood, particleboard, oriented strand board, medium-density fiberboard, cross-laminated timber, laminated veneer lumber, and glued-laminated timber.

Production: Raw materials are harvested from forests or plantations, then converted through sawmilling, veneer peeling, or chipping. Drying to optimize moisture content (air or kiln drying) reduces defect risk. Components are machined, cut, and bonded with adhesives for engineered products. Finishes such as stains, paints, sealants, and varnishes are applied to enhance appearance and durability. Quality is governed by industry standards and testing for strength, stiffness, moisture resistance, and formaldehyde emissions in some products.

Uses: In construction, woodproducts form framing, decking, flooring, panels, and structural members. In furniture and cabinetry, they supply boards and veneer-based components. In packaging, pallets and crates use dimension lumber and plywood.

Sustainability and market: The sector emphasizes sustainable forest management, certified by schemes like FSC or PEFC. Lifecycle considerations include sourcing, processing energy, waste utilization, and recycling or disposal. Market drivers include building construction demand, furniture production, and consumer packaging.
