Weatherability
Weatherability is the extent to which a material, product, or system retains its performance and appearance under exposure to outdoor environmental conditions over time. It covers resistance to ultraviolet radiation, temperature and humidity cycling, moisture ingress, wind-driven rain, freeze-thaw movements, atmospheric pollutants, and mechanical wear. Materials with high weatherability require fewer maintenance cycles and longer service life in outdoor or harsh environments.
Factors influencing weatherability include the intrinsic properties of the material (such as UV stability, moisture resistance,
Testing and standards: Weatherability is evaluated with accelerated aging tests, including UV exposure, temperature-humidity cycling, and
Applications: Weatherability is critical in outdoor architectural cladding, roofing, exterior paints and coatings, solar modules, automotive
