Värähtelymoduulien, or vibration modules, are electronic components designed to produce mechanical vibrations. They are typically driven by a voltage signal that causes an internal element to oscillate, thereby generating a physical vibration. The primary types of vibration modules include piezoelectric actuators and eccentric rotating mass (ERM) motors.

Piezoelectric vibration modules utilize the piezoelectric effect, where certain materials deform when an electric field is applied. By alternating the polarity of the applied voltage, the material can be made to vibrate at a specific frequency. These modules are often used in applications requiring precise control over vibration frequency and amplitude, such as haptic feedback systems in consumer electronics or in micro-positioning devices.

ERM motors, on the other hand, consist of a small DC motor with an unbalanced weight attached to its shaft. When the motor spins, the imbalance causes the entire unit to vibrate. The intensity of the vibration is usually controlled by the motor's speed, which is modulated by adjusting the voltage. ERM motors are commonly found in simpler vibrating devices like mobile phones for notification alerts or in game controllers for tactile feedback.

The design and characteristics of a vibration module, such as its operating frequency, amplitude, power consumption, and size, are tailored to its intended application. They are integral to creating tactile sensations, providing alerts, or enabling precise movements in a wide range of devices.
