Voralpenregionen
Voralpenregionen, or the Voralpen, are the foothill regions along the northern edge of the Alps in the German-speaking parts of Central Europe. The term groups several interconnected landscapes that lie between the flat Alpine foreland and the high alpine summits. In Austria the concept is applied to areas such as the Tiroler Voralpen, Salzburger Voralpen and Oberösterreichische Voralpen, and in adjacent regions similar foothill lands are known in Swiss and Bavarian contexts as pre-Alpine landscapes.
