Bavarian refers to Bavaria, a federal state in southeastern Germany, or to the historic and cultural region centered on that area. The state, officially the Free State of Bavaria (Freistaat Bayern), has Munich as its capital. It borders Austria and the Czech Republic and covers landscapes from the Alps to the Danube and the Bavarian Forest.
