BMW Group, or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a German multinational company that produces automobiles and motorcycles. Headquartered in Munich, it was founded in 1916 as Bayerische Flugzeugwerke and renamed Bayerische Motoren Werke in 1917. After World War I the company shifted from aircraft engines to motorcycles in the 1920s and to cars in 1928, establishing a long-running presence in the luxury and performance segments.
