The term combines the real condition vitiligo with a suffix intended to suggest an otherworldly or glimmering quality, signaling its status as a fictional concept rather than a recognized medical diagnosis.

Signs and symptoms center on patchy loss of pigment with relatively sharp borders. Lesions may coalesce to cover larger areas. Some narratives attribute sun sensitivity or tingling to affected skin. In certain portrayals, patches exhibit a subtle shimmer or glow under specific lighting or magical interference, a stylistic element used to emphasize difference or identity.

Causes and pathophysiology in fiction range from autoimmune-like processes and genetic predisposition to environmental, energetic, or magical triggers. There is no scientific evidence for vitiligoon in the real world; it serves as a storytelling device to explore themes of identity, visibility, and social perception.
