Viaszköris

Viaszköris, scientifically known as Fraxinus pennsylvanica, is a species of ash tree native to North America. It is widely distributed throughout the eastern and central United States and southeastern Canada. Also commonly called green ash, this deciduous tree is a popular choice for landscaping and is often found in riparian areas, floodplains, and along forest edges.

The tree typically grows to a height of 50 to 60 feet, with a trunk diameter of up to 2 feet. Its bark is usually grayish-brown and furrowed, becoming more ridged with age. The leaves are opposite, pinnately compound, and typically consist of 5 to 9 leaflets. The leaflets are oval to lance-shaped with serrated edges. In the fall, the foliage turns a yellow to yellowish-brown color before dropping.

Viaszköris produces small, greenish flowers in the spring, followed by winged fruits called samaras. These samaras are dispersed by wind and are a food source for various wildlife. The tree is known for its adaptability and tolerance to a range of soil conditions, including wet and compacted soils. However, it is susceptible to emerald ash borer infestation, a significant threat to ash populations across North America. Due to its resilience and relatively fast growth, it has been extensively planted in urban environments and for reforestation efforts.
