Veterinärmediziner is the profession and discipline concerned with the health, welfare, and management of animals, as well as the protection of public health through veterinary science. Practitioners diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases in companion animals, livestock, and wildlife; they may also perform surgery, administer vaccinations, and provide routine preventive care and guidance on nutrition and husbandry. In many settings, veterinärmediciner collaborate with farmers, pet owners, researchers, and authorities to ensure animal well-being and food safety.

Education and training typically begin with a university degree in veterinary medicine, followed by licensing or registration requirements that vary by country.
