Tähtaegad

Tähtaegad is the Estonian plural form of tähtaeg, meaning deadlines or due dates. It denotes the latest date and time by which an action must be completed or a document submitted. The concept is used across many contexts to organize timing, prioritize work, and ensure timely decisions.

The term is common in education, public administration, business, science, and publishing. In schools and universities, deadlines mark submission dates for assignments, applications, and exams. In government and administration, they govern filings, appeals, registrations, and reporting requirements. In research and publishing, deadlines constrain grant applications, manuscript submissions, and progress reporting.

Two general types of deadlines are often distinguished. Hard deadlines are binding and typically carry automatic consequences if not met, such as penalties or disqualification.
