Thalkaisijat

Thalkaisijat is a genus of extinct cephalopods belonging to the family Protocycloceratidae, which is part of the larger group of ammonites. These ancient creatures lived during the Early Jurassic period, around 201-202 million years ago. Fossils of Thalkaisijat have been found in the geological formations of Europe, particularly in the English Lias Group.

The Thalkaisijat genus is characterized by shell morphology that is typical of ammonites. Their shells are coiled and spherical in shape, consisting of a series of chambers that are separated by septa. These chambers are filled with a transition zone and a venter, which is the interior part of the shell. A study of Thalkaisijat shells suggests that they displayed adaptable shell morphology in response to evolutionary pressures.
