Tahdistus

Tahdistus is a Finnish term generally translated as synchronization or pacing. It denotes the process of coordinating timing or rhythm between systems, signals, devices, or activities so that they operate in a consistent temporal relationship.

In computing and networking, tahdistus refers to aligning clocks, coordinating processes, or ordering events to ensure data consistency and correct interaction. Common techniques include network time protocols (NTP), precision time protocol (PTP) and algorithms for clock consensus and distributed synchronization. In electronics and signal processing, phase-locked loops and clock distribution networks are typical means of achieving tahdistus between oscillators or data streams.
