Suoravärjäyksessä

Suoravärjäyksessä, commonly known in English as direct dyeing, is a hair coloring technique where pigment molecules are large enough to sit on the surface of the hair shaft without penetrating the cuticle. Unlike oxidative dyes, which require a chemical reaction to deposit color, direct dyes are pre-pigmented and simply adhere to the hair. This means they do not typically lighten the hair and are often used to deposit vibrant fashion colors, enhance existing tones, or add subtle tints.

The application process for direct dyes is generally straightforward. The hair is usually washed and dried before the color is applied. The dye is then left on the hair for a specific period, ranging from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the desired intensity and the product's instructions. Rinsing with cool water helps to seal the cuticle and prolong the color's vibrancy.

Suoravärjäyksessä colors are semi-permanent, meaning they gradually fade with each shampoo. The longevity of the color depends on factors such as the porosity of the hair, the color chosen (brighter, more vibrant shades tend to fade faster), and the frequency of washing. They are considered a gentler option for coloring hair as they do not involve harsh chemicals like ammonia or peroxide. However, because they don't lighten the hair, they are most effective on pre-lightened or lighter hair bases for achieving true-to-tone results, especially with lighter or pastel shades.
