Stiililehtedele, often translated as stylesheets or style sheets, are fundamental to modern web design and presentation. They are documents that describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. The most common markup language is HTML, and stylesheets are most commonly used for HTML documents. CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, is the most widely used stylesheet language for the web.

Style sheets allow for greater control over the visual appearance of web content, separating the content from its presentation. This separation offers several benefits. Firstly, it simplifies web page creation and maintenance. Designers can apply a single style sheet to multiple web pages, ensuring a consistent look and feel across an entire website. If a change is needed, it can be made to the style sheet, and the update will be reflected on all linked pages simultaneously.

Secondly, style sheets enable richer presentation effects and greater typographical control than was possible with HTML alone. They can dictate font styles, colors, spacing, layout, and even animations and transitions. This allows for more visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.

Furthermore, style sheets contribute to better accessibility. By separating content from presentation, users can choose to override default styles with their own, potentially making content more readable for individuals with visual impairments. Responsive design, which adapts a website's layout to different screen sizes (desktops, tablets, phones), is heavily reliant on style sheets.
