Robottiläjit

The expression does not have a single formal definition in Finnish robotics literature; instead, it appears in various sources to denote a class of systems designed from modular layers that provide different functionality, such as sensing, computing, actuation, and end effectors. The concept reflects a design philosophy of modularity and reusability in robotic construction.

Typical robottiläjit architectures consist of distinct layers or modules connected through standardized interfaces, both physically and in software. Common layers include a sensor layer (cameras, lidar, tactile sensors), a processing layer (embedded computers or single-board computers), an actuation layer (motors, pneumatic or hydraulic actuators), and an end-effector layer (grippers or tools). Modules are often designed to be swapped or reconfigured quickly, enabling rapid prototyping and task-specific customization.

In practice, the term is most frequently encountered in Finnish-language education, hobbyist, and research contexts rather than in formal industry standards.
