Püsivastus

Püsivastus, also known as continuous resistance or steady resistance, refers to a method used in physical training and exercise science to maintain a consistent level of force against an immovable object or resistance over an extended period. This technique is often employed in strength training, rehabilitation, and sports conditioning to improve muscular endurance, stability, and joint control.

The practice involves holding a muscle contraction at a specific angle or position without allowing the joint to move. For example, in a püsivastus exercise, an individual might hold a plank position, a wall sit, or a static stretch for an extended duration, typically ranging from 10 to 60 seconds or longer, depending on the goal and fitness level. This contrasts with dynamic exercises, where movement is involved, such as lifting weights or performing repetitions.

Püsivastus is particularly useful for developing core strength, improving posture, and enhancing joint stability. It is commonly used in rehabilitation programs to strengthen muscles around injured areas while minimizing stress on the joints.
