Purinok

Purinok is a fictional mammal commonly used in speculative biology and fantasy world-building. In many setting guides, it is described as a small nocturnal omnivore native to temperate forest regions of a fictional continent. The name Purinok is said to derive from a Purin language, combining roots that evoke night activity and a quiet presence, reflecting its secretive habits.

Physical characteristics range in depictions, but Purinok is typically described as about 28 to 40 centimeters in body length with a 15 to 20 centimeter tail. It has dense, woolly fur that can vary from gray to chestnut, a broad muzzle, and large forward-facing eyes. Some illustrations show a pale dorsal stripe and, in certain portrayals, a faint bioluminescent glow along the back, especially in damp, moonlit environments.

Habitat and range are described as temperate forests with rich understory, near streams, at elevations from roughly 150 to 1,000 meters. Purinok is said to adapt to disturbed habitats more readily than many forest specialists but prefers intact habitat with fallen logs and cavities for roosting and shelter.
