Pozinkovaný refers to a process where a protective zinc coating is applied to iron or steel to prevent rusting. This technique, commonly known as galvanization, is achieved by immersing the metal object in a bath of molten zinc. The zinc reacts with the iron or steel to form a metallurgical bond, creating a durable and corrosion-resistant layer.

The zinc coating acts as a sacrificial anode, meaning it corrodes preferentially to the base metal. Even if the coating is scratched, the zinc will continue to protect the exposed steel, preventing rust from forming. This makes galvanized steel a popular choice for applications where durability and longevity are essential, such as in construction, automotive parts, and outdoor furniture.

There are several methods of galvanizing, including hot-dip galvanizing, electrogalvanizing, and mechanical galvanizing. Hot-dip galvanizing is the most common and involves dipping the steel into molten zinc. Electrogalvanizing uses an electrochemical process to apply a thinner zinc coating. Mechanical galvanizing involves tumbling parts in a zinc powder mixture at elevated temperatures. The specific method chosen depends on the application and the desired properties of the coating. Pozinkovaný products are recognizable by their matte, often slightly uneven, silvery-grey finish.
