These companies pump out the waste, clean and sanitize the unit, and replenish the chemical solution. Some portalets are equipped with basic amenities like toilet paper dispensers and hand sanitizer. More advanced models may include a small sink for handwashing, though these require a separate water supply.

The widespread use of portalets addresses sanitation needs in diverse settings where traditional plumbing is impractical or unavailable.
