Pinsere is a genus of small passerine birds belonging to the family Thraupidae, commonly known as tanagers. These birds are found in the tropical and subtropical regions of South America, with a particular concentration in the Andes Mountains. The genus currently contains three recognized species: the slate-colored seedeater (P. oreothraupis), the plain-colored seedeater (P. albigula), and the sharpened-tailed seedeater (P. subconcolor).
