Panelisierte

Panelisierte refers to a construction method in which building components, especially walls, floors, and roofs, are manufactured as large panels in a factory and shipped to the site for rapid assembly. The term is most commonly used in German-speaking regions but is also encountered in English-language discussions as panelized construction or panelized systems. As a form of prefabrication, panelization aims to improve quality control, reduce on-site labor, and shorten construction schedules.

Panels are typically composed of a structural framework with integrated insulation, finishes, and openings for doors, windows, and services. Common panel types include timber-frame panels with exterior sheathing, cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, and structural insulated panels (SIPs). Concrete panel systems and steel or hybrid panels are also used. During fabrication, electrical conduits, plumbing chases, and moisture barriers can be incorporated. On site, panels are lifted into place with cranes, connected, and sealed, with services and interior finishes completed within the panel network.

Benefits of panelisierte construction include faster construction timelines, improved airtightness and thermal performance, reduced material waste, and enhanced site safety. Additional advantages are higher factory quality control and the potential for better defect management. Challenges include the need for transportation and crane access for large panels, higher upfront design and coordination requirements, and the necessity of standardized interfaces between components. Logistical planning, transportation costs, and regulatory approvals can influence project feasibility. Panelisierte methods are used in residential, multifamily, and commercial projects and can be employed with timber, steel, or concrete systems, often as part of broader modular or hybrid construction approaches.
