PDDNOS

PDD-NOS stands for Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. It was a diagnostic category in the DSM-IV-TR used for individuals who show significant impairments in social interaction and communication, or unusual or restricted behaviors, but do not meet the full criteria for a specific pervasive developmental disorder such as autistic disorder, Asperger syndrome, or Rett syndrome. The label was applied when symptoms were pervasive but did not fit the patterns required for a distinct disorder, or when there was an atypical presentation.
