ODROID-XU4 is a single-board computer produced by Hardkernel as part of the ODROID line. It was released to offer a compact, high-performance platform for multimedia, development, and hobbyist projects. The board is powered by the Samsung Exynos 5422 system-on-chip, which features an octa-core arrangement with four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration, and a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. It ships with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM.

For storage, the XU4 relies on microSD cards and supports optional eMMC storage through a dedicated interface, giving users flexible boot and data options. The hardware layout includes Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI output, and audio, along with multiple USB ports, including USB 3.0 connectivity. A 40-pin GPIO header provides access to standard interfaces such as UART, I2C, and SPI for peripheral expansion.

Power is supplied via a 5V DC input, with a recommended supply capable of delivering sufficient current for stable operation, especially under load with USB devices attached. The board exposes a robust set of I/O options to support a range of projects, from media centers to embedded systems.

Software support is broad, with official and community-made images available for Linux distributions (including Debian-based and Ubuntu variants) and Android. The ODROID-XU4 has a long-standing community around it, offering tutorials, hardware documentation, and user forums. In the ODROID family, the XU4 is recognized for its strong CPU performance and versatile I/O, making it suitable for demanding applications within a compact form factor.
