Nettsektorer

Nettsektorer, often translated as "net sectors" or "network sectors," refers to the segmentation of a computer network into smaller, manageable, and more secure units. The primary goal of implementing nettsektorer is to improve network performance, security, and manageability by isolating different parts of the network. This isolation can be achieved through various technologies and methods, such as Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), firewalls, and access control lists.

By dividing a network into nettsektorer, administrators can apply specific security policies to each segment. For instance, a segment containing sensitive financial data might have much stricter access controls than a segment used for guest Wi-Fi access. This layered security approach helps to contain potential security breaches, preventing them from spreading across the entire network. If one sector is compromised, the impact is limited to that specific area.

From a performance perspective, nettsektorer can reduce broadcast traffic and network congestion. By segmenting the network, traffic within one sector generally does not impact the performance of other sectors.
