They are a frequent complication of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition where the veins in the legs have difficulty returning blood to the heart. This leads to blood pooling and increased pressure in the veins, which can damage the skin and surrounding tissues.

Risk factors for developing lábszárfekélyek include a history of deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins, obesity, immobility, age, and a family history of venous disease. The ulcer often begins as a small, irritated patch of skin that gradually breaks down into a wound. These ulcers can be painful, slow to heal, and prone to infection. This typically involves compression therapy, such as wearing compression stockings or bandages, to reduce swelling and improve blood flow. Wound care is also crucial, including regular cleaning, debridement of dead tissue, and appropriate dressings. Elevating the leg can also help.

Preventing lábszárfekélyek involves managing underlying venous conditions, maintaining a healthy weight, regular exercise to promote circulation, and avoiding prolonged periods of standing or sitting. Early detection and treatment of venous insufficiency are key to preventing the development of these chronic wounds.
