Kylos is a fictional city-state commonly used as a setting in fantasy literature and role-playing games. It sits on a natural crescent harbor on the western coast of the imagined continent of Lenora. The population is estimated around 60,000, making it the political and economic center of the region known as the Kylian League. The name Kylos is of uncertain origin; some scholars trace it to ancient terms such as kylo or kyklos, suggesting a reference to circular walls that once defined the city.

History and development have shaped Kylos as a maritime hub. It was established in the 9th century by seafaring colonists and quickly integrated into broader trade networks. The city achieved de facto independence after prolonged conflicts in the medieval period and later evolved into a maritime republic with a prominent trading class. A series of earthquakes and a great flood in the 17th century prompted widespread reconstruction in stone, shaping much of its current urban layout.

Governance in Kylos is provided by the Seagate Council, a 21-member body elected from coastal and market districts. The council appoints a chief magistrate who serves as head of government and commander of the city guard. A guild senate represents crafts and merchants, balancing commercial interests with civic authority.

Economy centers on trade and craft production. Key exports include pottery, glassware, wine, and textiles; imports cover timber, metals, and grain. The port supports regional and interregional commerce, aided by a local canal network and a light tram system within the city.

Culturally, Kylos uses Kylish as the official language alongside the common tongue. Notable festivals include the Festival of Lanterns and the Tide Market, reflecting a seafaring heritage. Landmarks include the Silver Gate, the Lighthouse of Daran, and the Academy of Seers.
