Kuitulevyllä

Kuitulevyllä refers to a type of engineered wood product commonly used in construction and furniture manufacturing. It is manufactured by breaking down wood chips, wood fibers, or other lignocellulosic materials into a fibrous state, often through a process of steaming and mechanical refining. These fibers are then mixed with a binder, typically a synthetic resin, and formed into mats.

The mats are then hot-pressed under high pressure and temperature, which cures the binder and bonds the fibers together into a dense, uniform panel. The density of the fiberboard can vary depending on the manufacturing process and intended application. Common types include Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) and High-Density Fiberboard (HDF), which are characterized by their smooth surfaces and consistent properties.

Kuitulevyllä finds widespread use due to its versatility, cost-effectiveness, and workability. It is frequently employed for making furniture components, cabinetry, decorative moldings, and shelving. In construction, it serves as a substrate for flooring, wall paneling, and in the production of doors and windows. Its smooth surface is ideal for painting, veneering, or laminating, allowing for a wide range of aesthetic finishes. The manufacturing process also allows for the creation of boards with specific properties, such as moisture resistance or fire retardancy, by incorporating additives during production.
