Komentorivityöskentely, often referred to as command-line interface (CLI) work or shell usage, is a method of interacting with a computer's operating system through text-based commands. Instead of using a graphical user interface (GUI) with icons and windows, users type commands into a terminal emulator. These commands are then interpreted by a command-line interpreter, or shell, which executes the requested operations.

This mode of interaction offers several advantages. It can be significantly faster for experienced users performing repetitive tasks, as complex operations can be executed with a single command or a short script. CLIs also provide greater control and flexibility, allowing users to fine-tune system settings, automate processes, and access functionalities not readily available through GUIs. Many system administration tasks, software development workflows, and server management operations are heavily reliant on command-line tools.

Common command-line environments include Bash (Bourne Again Shell), Zsh (Z shell), and PowerShell. Each shell has its own set of commands and scripting capabilities. While it may present a steeper learning curve for beginners, mastering command-line proficiency is a valuable skill in many technical fields, offering a powerful and efficient way to manage and interact with computer systems.
