Komentorivityökalut, often referred to as CLI tools, are software applications that are operated through a text-based interface, typically a command-line interpreter or shell. Instead of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) with buttons and menus, users interact with CLI tools by typing commands and providing arguments. These tools are fundamental to many operating systems, especially Linux and macOS, and are also available for Windows.

The primary advantage of CLI tools lies in their efficiency and power. They allow for complex operations to be performed quickly and can often be scripted to automate repetitive tasks. Many system administration, software development, and data processing tasks rely heavily on command-line utilities. Examples include text editors like Vim, file manipulation tools like `ls` and `cp`, network utilities like `ping`, and version control systems like Git.

CLI tools are designed to be focused on specific functions. This modularity means that users can combine multiple tools to create powerful workflows, a concept known as "piping." For instance, the output of one command can be sent as input to another. While they may have a steeper learning curve compared to GUIs, mastering CLI tools can significantly enhance productivity for users who regularly interact with computers at a deeper level.
