Kollegiet
Kollegiet is the Danish term for a type of student housing. Typically, a kollegium consists of apartment buildings or large houses in or near university towns, offering furnished rooms or self-contained flats rented to students and, in some cases, others in higher education. They are usually managed by a kollegieforening (student housing association) or by private landlords; occupancy is often governed by membership rules and waiting lists. Rents cover basic utilities and access to shared facilities, and many kollegier provide shared kitchens, bathrooms, common rooms, and study spaces. Rules commonly regulate noise, visitor access, and cleaning duties; residents may take turns with chores and maintain a communal standard.
