In electrical installations, cables are categorized based on their construction, insulation, and shielding properties. Common types include single-core, multi-core, and armored cables, each suited for different purposes. Single-core cables are often used in low-voltage applications, while multi-core cables are preferred for higher current demands. Armored cables provide additional protection against physical damage, making them ideal for industrial or outdoor settings.

Fire-resistant cables, such as those with low-smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) insulation, are essential in buildings where safety is a priority. Additionally, mechanical stress from bending or tension may necessitate flexible or reinforced cables.

Cost-effectiveness is another consideration, as higher-quality cables may offer better durability and performance but at a greater initial expense. Proper cable selection ensures efficient energy transfer, minimizes downtime, and adheres to safety regulations, making it a critical aspect of electrical and data infrastructure design.
